MORRISON CONSTRUCTION- HARLOW ACADEMY PAVILLION
A new sports pavilion is taking shape at Harlaw Playing Fields in Aberdeen, where Morrison Construction is delivering modern facilities designed to support Harlaw Academy pupils while improving access to outdoor sports provision.
For more than a decade, the former pavilion at Harlaw Playing Fields stood empty after falling into disrepair. Now, the site is undergoing a complete transformation, with Morrison Construction replacing the redundant building with a modern sports pavilion that will serve Harlaw Academy and the wider community.
The project forms part of Aberdeen City Council’ s wider investment in Harlaw Academy, which also includes a major extension to the school. Together, the schemes are intended to address growing pupil numbers, improve educational facilities and create better access to sport and physical education.
Unlike the previous pavilion, which had reached the end of its operational life, the new facility has been designed specifically around the needs of modern school sport.
It will provide changing accommodation, staff facilities and supporting infrastructure, allowing Harlaw Road Playing Fields to become the academy’ s principal outdoor PE venue.
Relocating outdoor physical education activities closer to the school will significantly reduce the time pupils currently spend travelling to sports facilities elsewhere in the city. Aberdeen City Council has identified this as an important educational benefit, allowing more lesson time to be devoted to physical activity rather than transport.
Morrison Construction was appointed to deliver the project through the Scottish Procurement Alliance’ s Public Buildings Construction and Infrastructure Framework. The contract includes demolition of the former pavilion together with construction of an entirely
