Construction began in summer 2024 and is due to be completed by July 2025. The aim is for the school to open in time for the new school year in September 2025. During planning, local residents, school staff, councillors and Sport England were all involved in helping to shape the final design.
The site will also include a covered drop-off area, parking spaces for staff, electric vehicle charging points, and safe cycle storage. The outdoor areas are carefully planned so that each year group has its own space to play, and the wider community may be able to use the sports pitch outside of school hours.
Hampshire County Council has said the project is part of its wider efforts to provide modern, energy-efficient schools that support children’ s learning and wellbeing. Wellesley Eastern Primary is one of several new schools being built across the county to meet the needs of growing communities.
Once open, the school will become a key part of life in Wellesley. It will provide a safe, high-quality learning environment for local children and a lasting benefit for families in the area.
