Bolt Works- 122 Flats, Old Cow Green Car Park
Architectural merit is also central to Bolt Works. Designed by JM Architects, the building reflects Halifax’ s industrial past through buff brick façades and wet-cast stone, while its thoughtful fenestration and rhythm echo the character of surrounding historic structures- enhancing street cohesion and place identity.
Internally, the mix of homes caters to diverse lifestyles. Many flats meet accessibility M4( 2) standards, while the rental offering includes elegantly furnished options, whether studio-like or larger two-bed units. With rents ranging from around £ 895 to £ 1,095 per month, Bolt Works offers attainable, high-spec rental living in a prime urban location.
Phase one reached completion in spring 2025. A May ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Calderdale’ s Mayor
Ann Kingstone, Mayor Tracy Brabin of West Yorkshire, Placefirst, and council representatives celebrated the delivery of the town’ s first BTR scheme. With a total investment of £ 21 million, the project has created construction jobs, future property management roles, and brought activity back to a key town-centre site.
Bolt Works stands as a model for brownfield regeneration and BTR delivery: a sustainable, community-focused development that respects local heritage, supports cleaner living, and reactivates underused central land.
With its ribbon-cutting now complete and first tenancies underway, this project paves the way for similar schemes across Halifax and beyond— proving what targeted investment, collaborative leadership, and design integrity can achieve in urban revival.
