When you are painting certain types of patterns like a pike for instance, what is your process for making it your own pattern or style? One thing I do first and foremost is never use stencils. A lot of stencils you find on the market are nice, but everyone and their brother has access to them. You end up with a market of baits that all have the same exact identical pattern but just in a mass amount of different colors. This is not to knock on guys who use them, because they make sense in a fast paced, high output situation. For my own personal preference though I enjoy the skill required to be able to free hand everything. When you buy my lures you can guarantee I spent a lot of time on each and every one of them, and each one has years of practice behind it. I also have a pretty sharp attention to detail, and use shading techniques that I haven ' t really seen anyone else do yet.
How long does your process last from start to finish? Something most people who don ' t make or paint baits don ' t realize is that this takes a tremendous amount of time. Start to finish each lure can take me anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. There are so many crucial little steps involved other than just painting the bait.
