CURRICULUM GUIDE 2014 THEATRE and MUSIC THEATRE I (THA001) This course integrates the theatrical arts into a single, comprehensive course of study. Theatrical history is combined with skills development to ensure that students develop a critical understanding of the art of performance. Students will learn basic dance steps, voice projection, facial expressionism for stage and film, and basic music theory. THEATRE II (THA002) This course goes beyond Theatre I in fostering a deeper understanding of theatrical performance. A discussion of the differences between acting for theatre and film is included in the course, as well as a study of the differences between theatrical performances and film, the limitations and advantages of each medium. Students will create a senior project, separately or as part of a team, that demonstrates their understanding and skill level. ACTING FOR ACTORS (THA0AP) This course is meant for students who are currently working or wish to work in the theatre/film industries. Theatrical arts will be covered. The course also includes information about casting calls, industry standards, selfpromotion, and positive character development. Enrollment to the course is decided through an interview process. Limited enrollment is available. Completion of Theatre I and II is recommended, but not required.
