The Wet, The Bad & The Ugly
When people talk about fish,
they are usually referring to the
health benefits of savoring these
aquatic creatures a couple of
times a week. Today, instead, I
am going to talk about fish
expressions in English - some
complimentary but the majority,
not so.
Beware of people who are
always fishing for information
because they may want to use it
to their own advantage. Don’t
open an email that looks fishy.
Chances are that it’s a phising
attempt to trick you into giving
personal information.
If you drink like a fish, you’ll
probably look green around the
gills the morning after. You can
always recognize the snowbirds
who winter in Florida. After a day
at the beach, they’re red as a lob-
ster although they’re probably
happy as a clam to be far away
from the cold and snow up north.
If you’re aloof and unfriendly,
you’ll probably be considered a
cold fish. If you’re not trustwor-
thy, you are definitely slippery as
an eel. A ruthless individual
