to aerosols. Incontrovertible measurements and
observations exist.
The disappearance of glaciers is illustrative:
Some 9,000 billion tons of ice have been lost from
glaciers from 1961-2016, per the journal “Nature.”
This volume of ice would cover the entire U.S. to a
depth of four feet. In this century, most glaciers in
Europe, Western Canada, and the U.S. will have
melted.
In Switzerland, glaciers have shrunk 10% in the
past five years, the fastest rate in a century. [See
photo.] The Swiss keep meticulous track of their gla-

ciers: More than 500 have disappeared since 1900.
Citizens have gathered to mourn a glacier’s demise.
By 2019, the Pizol glacier, in the Glarus Alps, at
8,858 feet, had lost 80% of its volume, since 2006.
Many ski resorts are rebranding as hiking venues,
owing to sparse snow. Globetrotter can confirm
spring in Zermatt (at high altitude)
reaching 86F, and a lack of A/C in
many Swiss hotels (“We never
needed it,” advised hoteliers).
Each year, Iceland’s glaciers
lose 11 billion tons of ice, per
records kept since 1880.
In summer 2019, Europe swel-
tered, with Germany at 107 F
(few houses have A/C), The
Netherlands at 102.7 F (August
averages are 63 F), and France
at 114.6 F, in the southern town of
Gallargues-le-Montueux.
In
2003, 15,000 died during a heat-
wave in France. In 2016, Kuwait
recorded 129.2 F; by 2100, the
Mideast could become uninhabit-
able. Summer travel? Danger-
ous.
