You don’t need to go out and purchase energy-efficient products to conserve energy! 1. Change your HVAC filters regularly to prevent clogging your filter and decreasing efficiency. 2. If it’s chilly, open drapes and blinds to heat your home. When it’s hot outside, close them on the sunny side of the house to keep heat out and reduce work for your A/C. 3. Cook outdoors when it’s nice. It’s fun AND it saves on electricity use by trapping less heat in the house. 4. Don’t change your smart thermostat from “away” to “home” preferences during the work day. Instead, utilize space heaters or fans in your workspace to avoid wasting energy heating or cooling the whole house. 5. Using a laptop computer instead of a desktop can lead to energy savings. 6. Implement “screen-free” time for the whole family. Even you! It will help cut energy use and help relieve some tension as everyone works and plays on top of each other.
