Message from UNYSAB President
After the grand success of 1st Chittagong University Model United Nations 2015( CUMUN15), this year they are going to organize a more anticipated conference – CUMUN16. I would like to congratulate Chittagong University Model United Nations Association( CUMUNA) for arranging their 2nd session of Model UN conference. It will be held in February 10-13.
Today we are standing head to head with the greatest refugee challenge since the World War II and, the notion of fear and insecurity towards these homeless, dreamless individuals are what needs to be changed if not for the sake of humanity but for preserving the future of a race. Confrontation between the sense of morality and national interest should end through a solution of mutual understanding and empathy. Amicability and kindness can be the only formidable weapon to prevent extremism and violence that causes the refugee flows. United Nations is the sheer reflection of the world’ s willingness to resolve the concern of securing the hopes and lives of refugees.
I strongly believe that CUMUN will serve as platform where young people, propulsors of energy, ingenuity and imagination, from home and abroad will come out with efficient resolutions to save rights of the ignored, the despised generation of people who without our help will perish into misery.
Taking part in a Model UN program provides students with an enriching experience on many levels. Participants in Model U. N. programs learn how the United Nations works through an advanced form of role playing. This is an opportunity to understand practices of multilateral diplomacy, to conduct efficient research and find out the solutions which will enrich their mind on the local and international issues.
“ Uphold humanity: Save Refugees” is the theme of the conference which is the most concerning issue on earth now. And it is my strong believe that tyoung minds enforce their creativity through diplomacy. I also believe that CUMUN16 will be a benchmark for upholding the humanity and saving the refugees.
I hope this conference will be successful to promote the notion of empathy towards refugees. I would like to take pleasure in expressing my heartiest welcome to the delegates for their participation and appreciation to the organizers. I wish CUMUN16 a great success.
