Italian Gastronomy:
Italian cuisine is characterized by its preparations with abundant vegetables, fruits, meat, fish, rice, pasta, and bread. Some of its typical dishes are pizza, pasta, and risotto. Italian food is included within the so-called Mediterranean cuisines, being imitated and practiced worldwide. We have the ice cream among the traditional desserts, better known as gelato, tiramisu, and the babà of Naples. Finally, among the typical drinks of Italy are limoncello, grappa, and sambuca.
History tells us that other countries, such as Greece, Africa, and Asian countries, influenced Italian food. The Greeks, Africans, and Asians who settled there brought their food and ways of cooking.
The act of eating for Italians has a greater meaning. It is a moment of socialization, of union with their relatives, and that family unit is credited with the rich and varied Italian food dishes.
Northern Italian cuisine:
Traditional northern Italian food is characterized by soups, cooked pasta, and meats boiled in wine and butter. Use less olive oil, tomato, and dry pasta. Northern Italy's typical dishes are carpaccio, vitello tonnato or vitel tonné and crocchette di patate, as well as risotto.
Carpaccio: This dish consists of slices of raw meat or fish macerated with lemon juice, olive oil, or cheese.
Risotto: This typical Italian food is made with rice and cheese. There are different risottos with different ingredients (cheese, pumpkin, spinach, or seafood) added to the rice.
On the other hand, among its unique sauces are pesto and bolognese.
Southern Italian:
simple dishes characterize cuisine Southern Italian cuisine. Its main ingredients are olive oil, vegetables, and typical vegetables from the area. The most consumed pasta dishes in this part of Italy are the famous pizzas and spaghetti and macaroni.
Pizza: Pizza consists of a generally round bread dough covered with tomato sauce and other ingredients such as cheese, ham, mushrooms, or olives.
Macaroni: Macaroni is a paste made with water, wheat flour, and eggs. They are shaped like tubes and are usually accompanied by different sauces and cheese.
Cuisine in Sicily and Sardinia:
Sicilian cuisine presents typical Mediterranean dishes, among which we can find unbeatable recipes for high-quality pasta and fish. Italians eat such delicious dishes as battered rice balls with peas, meat, cheese, or macaroni with "ragout," a tasty sauce made from minced meat.
There are traditional preparations typical of the island of Sardinia and dishes reminiscent of Catalan cuisine, such as the bean stew, known in Sardinia as "favata."
