Flora and Fauna

The fauna is not very varied in Italy. The autochthonous animals of this country are found mainly in natural parks, for example, chamois, wolves, bears, eagles, and the wild goat of the Andes. As for the bears and wolves that live in their natural environment, apart from the fact that they are few, they migrate towards Slovenia.

Along the coast that bathes Italy, we can find dolphins and swordfish; in the Alps, they inhabit besides the goat, the wild boar, fox, marmots, and chamois. Other characteristic species are scorpions, which are very abundant, snakes, lizards, and poisonous vipers. Among the birds, the kite, the buzzard, the vulture, and the falcon stand out.

The flora of Italy is not very varied. Instead, it is characterized by vineyards, crops, and extensive pastures; this is because the natural vegetation was destroyed many years ago. Remarkably few original species are preserved, such as the pine, cork oak, and holly, mainly found in the remote border areas.

Species such as cypress, orange, lemon, and olive trees that are very distinctive of the Italian flora are species that man introduced. In the South of Italy, there are almond trees, date palms, pomegranate and fig trees, and cotton and sugar cane crops.

Traditional Clothing

The typical clothes are inspired by old memories of times in which the countries lived a period of splendor. These suits can have all kinds of influences. The Italian suits have some similarities with the German ones. These are costumes usually inspired by the Middle Ages or times when there were no global influences on fashion, so everything was much more authentic. As for the use of these costumes is usually brought out at festivals of regional or national interest. Moments in which each region has celebrations that commemorate its culture and customs. Hence the costume becomes so important as another part of the party.

The typical costume of Italy: The costume that can be considered the most typical of Italy consists of a skirt with a petticoat and apron. It is a fitted dress with a vest and white shirt on top. In addition, the headdress or veil over the hair is very common in Italian celebrations, and we must not forget the importance of Catholicism in this country. Today, we can see many costumes similar to these, inspired by medieval times, although there are regions that show very different and unique clothing in terms of typical costumes.

The Renaissance in Italy: One of the most revered times in Italy was the Renaissance when a moment of splendor was experienced. In addition, the dresses and suits of this time are very beautiful and elaborate. The suits inspired by this time are usually expensive because we are talking about lace and brocade to make garments with layers and many details. These costumes are usually used in parties dedicated to the Middle Ages and reliving past times. They are also widely used for Carnival celebrations, especially in Venice.
