14 RAPTURE REVISITED B ioshock always will mean something to me, as a major bonding experience and a series that was my first delve into proper console gaming. So when I heard there was a col- 9.5/10 OVERALL SCORE lection of all the games coming out, and that BIOSHOCK: THE COLLECTION they were remastered, you can imagine how excited I was. But how did it fare compared to the originals? Let’s break it down into three major areas: Gameplay, Graphics, and Extras. WOULD YOU KINDLY? (GRAPHICS) To me, this game was already somewhat beautiful to begin with. But now that all the textures are layered properly and blend BY AMY PAGE together, it’s more realistic looking. The Splicers are scarier, the Big Daddies more intense. It’s in living, vivid color that compared to the old game pops like an Art Deco piece. Its atmospheric effect is intense, because the splicers look more grotesque and even somewhat more mutated than they did in the first game. Jack, Booker, Elizabeth, all the major human character’s skin looks more normal than it did originally. While Infinite did make progress with skin looking like skin, this takes it to a new level.
