TRANSFORMER WORKSHOP The Transformer Workshop class is designed to simplify the complex concept of why and how single phase transformers work when banked together. This class will teach troubleshooting customer voltage issues related to the WYE/Delta and WYE/ WYE transformer banks. Students will also learn the construction and troubleshooting of single phase and three phase transformer settings in a hands-on lab. This class will explain step-by-step how to build and understand electrical vectors. Learning electrical vectors will promote the efficiency and safety of the Line Technician banking single phase transformers and helps the Line Technician diagnose and troubleshoot customer voltage issues. This class is designed for those who would like to have a better understanding on single phase transformers and three phase transformer settings. Line Technicians, Line Foreman, Line Supervisors, Meter Technicians and Safety Trainers are encouraged to attend this workshop. • Students will learn the importance of WYE and Delta in three phase transformer settings • Students will learn how vectors impact three phase transformer settings • Students will learn how vectors impact troubleshooting transformers September 21-24, 2020, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Cost: $995.00 SUBSTATION ENTRY Utilizing a deenergized substation, common hazards, preventative measures and personal protective equipment are identified and discussed. In this training you will learn: • Principles of three-way communication • Minimum approach distance guidelines • Work permit and planning checklist • Substation equipment identification October 2, 2020, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Cost: $195.00 SUBSTATION SWITCHING PROCEDURES Students will learn the development of switching procedures to bypass and isolate substation equipment such as voltage regulators, reclosers, and circuit breakers. Switching procedures are practiced in a deenergized substation. In this training you will learn: • Identification of substation equipment symbols • Develop switching procedure to bypass substation equipment • Practice switching procedure • Principles of three-way communication October 16, 2020, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Cost: $195.00 UNDERSTANDING SUBSTATION DRAWINGS Students will learn common substation equipment symbols, and the ANSI numbering system for substation control devices. This will be applied to developing an understanding of One-Line and Three-Line drawings of actual substations and control circuits. Students are encouraged to bring substation and control drawings to class. In this training you will learn: • ANSI numbering system • Identification of substation equipment symbols • Understanding of One-Line and Three-Line diagrams • Circuit breaker control circuit diagrams October 30, 2020, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Cost: $395.00 VOLTAGE REGULATORS Students will learn the requirements for voltage regulation and how step voltage regulators operate. In this hands-on training you will learn: • Program and install voltage regulator controls • Troubleshoot voltage regulators and voltage regulation problems • Bypass voltage regulators for removal or replacement • Identify voltage regulator components November 6, 2020, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Cost: $395.00 To register or for more information about any of these classes, go to corporatetraining.nwtc.edu or call 920-498-6373. *Course materials are provided unless indicated. 15
