What is your name and where are you based? Emily Jane Tonkin. I live in Loughton, Essex for now.
How did you get into fashion designing and how long have you been doing it? I have always sketched, but I found designing when I moved to Los Angeles in 2008. I studied
Merchandise Product Development at FIDM, and from 2009 I knew I wanted to design & have my own brand.
What types of fashion do you design? Sportswear & active wear. The types of technologies that can be used in fabric production, which can aid sports performance, fascinate me. I occasionally make dresses for friends and attack a ridiculously complicated knit pattern.
Have you worked with any well known designers or names? I worked for the UK’ s top supplier for Marks And Spencer in 2010-2011, but I was fortunate to be taught by some of the best technical designers and product developers on the West coast of America at FIDM.
