What is your name and where are you based? Brian Conran,( Pyramid Clicks) from Stevenage, Hertfordshire.
How did you get into photography and how long have you been doing it? It was about two years ago really, as I used to do some photo edits for other people, these were mainly images they had taken and needed a little tidy up. I ' m not very good by any standards but I enjoyed seeing if it would make a difference to the original image. After a while I wanted to take my own images and then play around with my own images. I had a lot to learn and still have, but I have tried to better myself as I have gone along.
What types of photography do you do? i. e glamour, fashion, pinup, etc I have always been a fan of Terry Mendoza and his images and especially my love of all things 50s …… So I think the Pin Up style was where I was leaning to. I am now discovering there are many styles to be explored.
Do you prefer working on location or in a studio? When I started, it was with the blue or white sheet as a back drop in the top of a working mans ' social club. This served a purpose but was clearly not a way forward, especially when lugging up and down the stairs ones lighting equipment. I then had the use of a local studio that had the high key background and did many many shots in this. I started to look over my work and everything was looking the same, as I only saw the white, so I needed a change of direction and some colour.
I went on to book a day at Saracen House Studio in Milton Keynes and it was there that I found the importance of good lighting, and I have to say Andrew was very tolerant of my thousand and one questions. But I took away a very good few hours lesson from him. I have now used many studios that have a variety of sets and backdrops.
