While I was concocting a brainstorm, I had to be sure of many points to meet such as the target audience,
colour map of the project, the theme style and the story with or without dialogue. If I was going to aim
it towards children, what kind of story would it be? What kind of colours would I use? And would the
style of the story be in arctic place or a steampunk place? Also I was unsure of adding a dialogue as it
might be too much work. I also had to make sure that my choices would not affect the time I spent
making this project. Also the story had to be very easy to understand. The brainstorm had helped me to
gain a better understanding of everything I needed and to plot out the time I had left.
Once that was done, I started to create the storyboard. However, many changes have been made here.
It took me a really long time to edit as I had problems in picturing the story in my mind. The changes
were the bad bear becoming good, and other animals getting involved to be a part of the bear as a shape-
shifting creature. I must admit that while I was doing the storyboard, I was all over the place as it didn’t
match my brainstorm and I was not able to control what to do. I got carried away in trying to make my
piece epic. At first the story of the bear bursting into the room wouldn’t be good for the target audience
if it ended in a cliff-hanger, leaving them uncomfortable if the girl had no way out. Then I tried to kill
the bear off with the girl summoning a magical sp ear but that would be too violent. After that I changed
the bear to become a good creature, and that’s when I got carried away by thinking of using other rigs
to make the bear a shape-shifting animal inspired by Pantalaimon of the Golden compass, hence making
the story longer.
I found rigs of a bird, a gorilla and a leopard.
This story would help broaden the character of the
bear where each of his shape-shifting animals would help the girl in dire circumstances such as bird
flying the girl to higher places, a leopard riding the girl to further places and a gorilla climbing the girl
towards tall buildings.
