Ms. Keadby: I am always committed to making sure I work out every day. Has it been hard to commit to your New Year’ s resolution( s)? Ms. Lai: Sure, I have one. It’ s to exercise more. It’ s tricky, because life is busy, but I try to make time to exercise in the mornings and on the weekends. Mr. Fischer: My resolution is to have less screen time; it’ s hard but it is going well. Do you like setting( a) New Year’ s resolution( s)? Ms. Mack: I do like setting New Year’ s resolutions. My New Year ' s resolution is to send mail to my friends more often. Ms. Brown: I do sometimes. My resolution is to drink more water.
Well, now that you know a bit more about your teachers and their New Year’ s Resolutions, maybe you can try to set one yourself and try to commit to it. Thank you for reading!
HOBBIES
By Enid Gao and Evie Locke. Grade 6.
Here at Crofton, every student has a hobby or two. They add a dash of colour and joy to our somewhat bland modern lives, making them better and brighter. Hobbies are a wonderful thing. They help connections blossom and keep tedium far away. Even here at school, there are so many students with amazingly unique and interesting hobbies! Moving on, let’ s discover some of our fellow students’ wonderfully unique hobbies.
What is an interesting hobby that you have, and why do you like it? Amy 6S: I really like to play the cello. Lumin 6S: I like doing taekwondo and reading. I like taekwondo because sometimes I get really frustrated with my siblings, and taekwondo helps me get my frustration out. I like reading because it’ s fun. Enid 6C: I really like drawing and animating because it’ s very freeing to be able to draw whatever you want. I also really like to make my own characters and write stories for them. Evie 6C: I love crocheting. Mostly roses, even though they are hard, but fun. When I finish something, it just makes my day brighter! But it ' s annoying when I crochet the wrong stitch. Emerald 6H: I like to do puzzles. They’ re fun. Chloe 4C: My favourite hobby is fencing because it’ s very competitive and fun. Sophie 2C: Skating, because I do it with my friends.
Juno 2C: I like doing crafts because it’ s fun and I think it’ s really creative. Jessica 2C: Synchronized swimming because it ' s gymnastics in water. I love swimming and gymnastics a lot. Is there a hobby that you would like to try? Veneta 7S: Figure skating. Kendall 6S: Baking, because I am inspired by how you can bake something that is really unique. Emma Gunn 6C: I wish I were better at crocheting or knitting. I’ m really bad at it, but it’ s really fun. Lumin 6S: Skiing, because it’ s cool and a lot of people say it’ s fun. Juno 2C: Maybe piano or cross country. Elaine 2C: I want to learn figure skating. Jessica 2C: I would like to try pickleball so I can play with my mom. Is there anything special about your hobby? Amy 6S: I get to learn to make music. Juno 2C: My mom is an art teacher, and I know how to do art because of her. Jessica 2C: Not that many people know what it is because not many people do it. How did you get interested in your hobby? Ayla 6C: I’ ve always been interested in art because it’ s always there. Daphne 2H: I just saw my sister reading, so I copied her. Hana 2C: My dad signed me up when I was 4, and I started playing. I liked it because I’ m starting to do little tournaments, and I’ m going to play against a team. Juno 2C: I always loved drawing and colouring.
It’ s amazing how many fascinating hobbies exist just within the walls of our school! We hope you enjoyed this article, and that you might have discovered a hobby that you might just try out. Tell us if you do!
