Tire levers:

Make it easier to take a tire off a rim and put it back on in the event of a puncture

Chain tool:

A broken chain is a common ride ender, a small chain tool, together with a couple of master links can stop this from happening

Repair patches:

Sometimes you get more than one puncture on a ride, or your friend forgot their tube and you gave them your spare.

Zip ties:

A couple of zip ties allow you to do a vast number of running repairs to allow you to get back on the road and make it home

Latex gloves:

Ideal to stop your hands getting too dirty when doing repairs and ruining that brand new white bar tape you've just finished fitting.

Spoke key:

Allows you to true a wheel enough to get the wheels turning again if you buckle one badly. *
