CRICKET CLUB
Oswestry CC has been working hard during the off-season to make
sure that they are well prepared for the new campaign. Cricket Club
Magazine recently caught up with their Chairman Chris Wiseman
to find out more about how they are getting along.
He told us, “I have been at OCC
since I was eight or nine years old,
so over thirty years. I did spend a
few years away. I returned back to
the club in 2012, became Secretary
in 2015 and Chairman at the start of
2018.”
“The biggest challenge for me is
the same as every other Chairman
you speak to, Club Politics followed
by player Development, Club
Development, Fundraising and
keeping everyone Happy. It is very
rewarding when it all comes together
and the teams are winning and the
Sun is shining.
“The mood is the most positive
it has been for a few years. We have
installed two new skippers for the
1st and 2nd Team. We have also
recruited a couple new players that
will add strength and depth to the
1st team squad.
“The offseason didn’t start too
well as we lost our 1st Team skipper
in November. Since we installed
our New Skipper Dean Suter the
atmosphere has really changed and
is extremely positive. We really can’t
wait for the season to start.

“We are looking to carry on
improving the club both on and off
the field in 2019. We have revamped
the Committee during the winter
months so a fresh look and impetus
will help us drive the club forward.
We are proud to be hosting the
Lashing All Stars in August in a
T20 match. We are also looking to
expand our Floodlight games too.
We were the first club in Shropshire
to hold Floodlight cricket last year
for the U19s, we hope to expand this
to seniors this year.
“Youth cricket is the life blood of
the club so we have around ninety
juniors on a Monday night. The
Juniors are very important to me as
