North Runcton Off the field we continue to strive to improve/maintain our already excellent facilities with a target in the next two years of an overhaul of the cricket square. We are a club that has a great history that can sometimes be daunting for our younger players but the group we have at present are beginning to show real spirit and talent and I am confident that with the support of all members of the club that we will succeed. It is essential that we get the balance of off and on the field success correct in order to attract players in future years. The biggest challenge we have at the moment is attracting players. Young people have so many different things they can do with their spare time now and the retention of those late teens/early 20s players is very difficult. For example, we have 6 of our Saturday 1st and 2nd team squads away at university which not only makes it difficult to get strong sides out at the beginning of the season but also means that many of those when they have finished their degrees will probably not come back to West Norfolk. This is why youth cricket is critical to the club’s future. We have to keep that stream of young talent coming into the club to ensure we keep our club at the playing standard we want and expect. It’s also essential that we get those older players and parents involved in the off the field activities. Not only do players get older but also the “administrators”. For example at the moment we are desperate for a scorer. Our ambition is to play cricket at the highest level possible whilst ensuring the players enjoy the experience. We sometimes forget that we are an amateur club and whilst we desperately want to be at the top level we must enjoy the time we spend at the club. I would like to thank everyone involved in the club for all the work they put in to ensure that cricket continues to be played at what I believe (I may be biased) is the best cricket club in Norfolk. Finally I would like to say a big thank you to all our kind and generous sponsors. • Long run lithographic colour printing • Short run digital colour printing • Large format poster printing • Invitations and postcards • Roller banners and X banners • Internal, External & Illuminated signs • In-house binding and finishing • Letterheads and compliment slips • Brochures, leaflets and folders • Health & Safety Signs • Exhibition displays • Business cards • Envelopes • Newsletters • Labels, NCR Pads www.sportip.biz 39
