Oswestry CC has been
making
tremendous
progress
in
recent
years having won three
promotions in six years and they
are now establishing themselves in
Division 1 of the Birmingham League.
Cricket Club Magazine caught up with
their Chairman Mike Robinson to find
out more.
“I’ve been involved with the club
since 1973 having joined as a player
as a raw 21 year old. I’ve been on the
Committee for more than 40 years as
well. It’s a great community club with
practically all the players coming from
the local area.
Most of the first team have come
through the juniors and one particularly
good batch has taken us a very long
way. We’re also fortunate enough to be
one of the best supported clubs in the
area with a lot of the community coming
to get behind us.
We’ve had three promotions in the
last six seasons and are at a level now
where I don’t think any of us expected
to be in Division 1 of the Birmingham
League. The off-season has gone
well, we’ve started to net indoors but
don’t believe in doing much as the
April pitches are completely different
outdoors.
Last year we went in to the season
with the target of finishing third from
bottom which is where we did finish.
There was a feeling at the club that
we could have done a little better on
