String Orchestra
Orchestra I Fall / Spring ( Beginning )
1 Unit This level of the Crest Strings program will continue the development of basic musicianship as well as performance skills at the beginning level of the North Carolina Essential Standards requirements . Students will perform grades 3 , 4 , and 5 music . Prerequisite : prior strings education through school or private instruction .
Orchestra II Fall / Spring ( Intermediate )
1 Unit This level of the Crest Strings program will continue the development of musicianship as well as performance skills at the intermediate level of the North Carolina Essential Standards requirements . Students will perform grades 3 , 4 , and 5 music . Prerequisite : prior strings education through school or private instruction .
Orchestra III Fall / Spring ( Proficient )
1 Unit This level of the Crest Strings program will continue the development of musicianship as well as performance skills at the proficient level of the North Carolina Essential Standards requirements . Students will perform grades 4 , 5 , and 6 music . Prerequisite : prior strings education through school or private instruction .
Orchestra IV Fall / Spring ( Advanced )
1 Unit This level of the Crest Strings program will continue the development of musicianship as well as performance skills at the advanced level of the North Carolina Essential Standards requirements . Students will perform grades 4 , 5 , and 6 music . Prerequisite : prior strings education through school or private instruction .
Electronic Music

This course is an introduction to music composition and production using MIDI and sound recording technology . It requires hands-on experience with computers , keyboards and recording software . Prerequisite : students should have a performance medium ( vocal or instrumental ).

This “ mixed choir is open to any student in Grades 9 , 10 , 11 , 12 who wishes to develop their vocal technique and enjoys singing . Students will also
learn the basics of music theory , rhythms and sight-singing . At least 2 performances are required each semester . To gain the maximum benefit
from this course , it is highly recommended that you take the class both fall and spring semesters .

This “ concert choir ” is open to any student who has completed at least one semester in Vocal Music I and who is interested in singing and
developing a more advanced choral repertoire . Students will also continue to work on music theory , rhythms , and sight-singing . Though this is not
an auditioned choir , at least two performances are required each semester . Students will compete in regional competitions in the spring and may
also be given the opportunity to participate in collegiate festivals . To gain the maximum benefit from this course , it is highly recommended that
you take the class both fall and spring semesters .

This auditioned chamber choir is designed for the more serious music student wishing to study more advanced choral literature . Students will
explore advanced music theory , rhythms and sight-singing . Students will compete in regional competitions in the spring and will also be given the
opportunity to participate in collegiate festivals . At least two performances are required each semester . Students are required to take this class
both semesters unless they have a conflict with an academic class .
