I decided to educate myself about animal nutrition aft er my graduation to come up with these delectable and nutritionally balanced recipes. It took almost two years to learn, understand and plan for this special venture. During my visits to Vanilla’s vet, I used to speak to him about what kind of food was good for her. I consulted nutritionists and even tried my hand at making some recipes at home, trying to fi gure out what Vanilla liked, and what she didn’t.    Fresh for Paws fi nally took shape and was launched in June 2018. I chose the name Fresh For Paws for my entrepreneurial venture as our products have their freshness intact and are made with lots of love and care for our furry friends. It has taken almost one and a half years to fi nd the correct and unique technology to pack our food so that it remains fresh and completely retains its nutritional value. Our products have undergone vigorous trials and testing before being introduced in the market and are, thus, completely safe for pet consumption. Initially, we tried creating recipes using the frozen food approach but then we realised that it’s a very common thing in the dog food segment and therefore opted for this technology of pre portioned, grain-free, ready to eat nutritious food.   Fresh For Paws is a Delhi based start up with some Pan India presence. Th e main USP of our products is their shelf life - every packet of ready-to-eat food has a shelf life of two years. Another advantage is that these ready-to-serve products do not have any special storage requirements. Th e technology used is one of its kind and stand alone. We spoil pet parents with a variety of meals which you will not fi nd available under any food related brand for pets. We procure and use only the freshest and most high quality ingredients for our food off erings. Meals are perfectly portioned, measured and sealed in ready-to-eat pouches. Fresh For Paws’ range of products is completely safe for consumption by pets as we do not use rendered meats, grains, by-products or artifi cial preservatives. Th e product line is FSSAI complaint and HACCP certifi ed. Ingredients used are 100% natural, and the meals are made in high quality and nourishing olive oil. Th e food is prepared under personal supervision and is nutritionally-balanced, pre-portioned and created from real food sources for optimal pet health and wellness. It does not require any defrosting, or guesswork while serving. You simply need to tear open the packet and pour it in your doggie’s bowl. We off er a wide variety of products that come in two sizes, 100 grams and 300 grams. Our recipes include – Chicken Stew, Chicken Liver Stew, Mutton Liver Stew, Egg White Stew, Casserole, Paneer Stew and Vegetable Stew. We also have one treat which is Peanut Butter that comes in a 100 grams jar. We are associated with a few retailers, pet boarding houses and veterinarians in New Delhi and NCR. Locco pets (Gurugram), Furball story (Gurugram), Doggy World (Rohini), Pet Street Online (Ghaziabad), Pawsome Wellness (Sainik Farms), Dr. Seth Dog and Cat Clinic (Anand Niketan), Modern Pet Shop (Chandigarh), Doodle Over Poodle (Punjabi Bagh), Cafe JC’s (Chandigarh) are some of the outlets who retail our products. In fact, we have an in-house menu for the furry friends at Café JC’s in Chandigarh. We are available online at Pet Sutra, Amazon India, Paytm mall, Swiggy stores and Flipkart as of now. We are also in the process of helping strays and widening our interactions with animal shelters. While the response from our gradually increasing client base has been extremely positive, there were also some stiff challenges we faced while trying to establish our brand. Th e biggest challenge is the lack of awareness and ability to discern between bespoke, high quality products like Fresh For Paws created with a special technology over regular, run of the mill stuff available for past many years in the market at a very low price. Fresh For Paws is a 100 percent self-fi nanced venture. We don’t have any funding. Th e revenue model is mostly from Direct to Customer and e-commerce sales.
