I was always a good wrestler and I was always told that I would do great in high school. So at the start of my freshmen season in wrestling when I started out undefeated, I was feeling a little big headed. I started to slack off during wrestling practice, and that’s when everything started to go down hill. I started to loose more of my match and was right around being even for wins and loses. I still didn’t really let any of this sink into my head so I didn’t work very hard in practice still. I thought as long as I get second in sectionals and move on to districts, who really cared.

It didn’t really hit me until after conference when I got third place. I realized that those were the kids I would have to face at sectionals. I knew if I really wanted to move on to districts then I would have to beat one of the two kids who beat me at conference. I knew I wrestled well against the kid who got second and it was a close match. So I started to work my butt off in practice for sectionals. I worked the hardest that week then I had worked the whole season.
