he world of fashion,
contrary to popular
thinking, is a very challenging world. However anyone capable of crossing the threshold of NEW YORK FASHION WEEK can add a milestone on their journey to success. Sally Esinam Torpey Dowuona-Ocran, a designer from Ghana, Africa which I had the pleasure of working with, showcased her spring line on September 12, 2013 at the “Viva La Couture” Event at Studio 450 in Manhattan, New York.
Sally is the founder of Oheemaa a brand that produces and markets unique, high quality, fair trade hand-made batik. Her line aids in promoting, enhancing the skills, and sustaining the livelihood of Ghanaian women in hand craft businesses.
She is truly a gem, while she creates her own fabric, you read right, she creates her fabric from scratch and by hand, Sally has demonstrated courage and perseverance in achieving her goals in becoming a world renown designer.
