Opinion

I heard a lot of mixed emotions when I would explain what I was reading. A geisha is basically a prositute, so yea a lot of my friends thought it was a litte weird of me to be reading it. I myself loved the book regaurdless of what they thought. Just because she was a geisha doesn’t mean her life was nothing but sleeeping around. Even though her life took her places u don’t exactly agree with doesn’t mean at all she is a bad person, just a human like the rest of us. Anyway, growing up like she did is terrible, but what amazes me is she still stayed true to herself the whole way. Not even Hatosumo could break this girl’s courage and eagerness to make it as a successful and charming geisha.

That being said, I think this book really show the conflicts taht women have to deal with. Not just Geisha, all women have to look a certain way and act a certain way to be accepted every day and everywhere. There is no place in this world that we won't be judged. You will be judged all the time. Those judgements can make or break your life. I think this book should be a mandatory read for everyone. People need to understand not only what is said about them can hurt then but what they say about others affects them.
