As an upcoming director, you have to source for or even write a moving script because it either the scriptwriter doesn ' t trust the ' newbie ' enough to interpret and portray the script or the ' newbie ' can ' t afford the somewhat ridiculous price placed on the script. What concerns a director with the script isn ' t that the producers ' job, you may wonder? Well that only happens in big companies, where the company sorts through scripts to know which movie to produce and select the directors based on their experience and the success of their previous works. In the real world, script writers either contact the directors of their choice. Even when you get the script that shake worlds, experienced ' A-List ' actors wouldn ' t want to act in your movie because unlike us, they understand that no matter how good an actor is if the director doesn ' t know how to direct well, the movie is in jeopardy. They wouldn ' t want to associate themselves with an upcoming director, because he hasn ' t proven himself.
Let ' s assume you manage to get both script and actors there is the problem of funds. In fact you need money to get both script and actors. If you ' ve ever come across the budget for some movies, you would be dumbfounded and stupefied at once. An average episode of Game of Thrones costs between 6-8 million dollars. Very few Producers will be willing to risk the huge amounts of money used in producing movies by giving it to someone who hasn ' t had any experience whatsoever, apart from church drama group productions. The upcoming director our ' newbie ' cannot afford to solely fund his dream, because he needs to pay his crew, actors and acquire some large and small pieces of equipment for the movie. If you manage to overcome these obstacles and produce a good movie, then comes the biggest challenge of all, to make an even greater movie, to show that the first success was a fluke or beginner ' s luck. These are just some of the myriad of problems an upcoming director faces. Although there are institutions where one can go to learn directing. But what ' s the point of studying only to come out and not be able to do anything, because no one would give you the experience you need. Word of advice, if you don ' t give us experience are we supposed to pick them on the floor.
