Evaluation
In this project, we had to consider different aspects of the fashion retail business, for example for Principles of fashion business and retail we had to look into different types of retailers like online stores, Supermarkets, Department, Boutiques and independent stores all these retailers would have a different way of getting to their demographic and communicating. This then then led on to communications where we had to consider how things are portrayed in the eyes of the viewers and why this line of communications is better for that one brand than if another brand would do the same. For Critical contextual studies, I had to consider different decades and search what was influencing fashion in that time, whether it was music, dance or politics. I had to make a sketchbook full of information from 1900 till 200’s and now. I also had to explain why fashion in out time is classed as recycled. For fashion production and supply chain we had to learn what companies did to make the supply chain flow easier whether it was integration or ethics.
For Principles of fashion business and retail we first learnt about the types of retailers, then we went on to the locations of where they are situated location wise. There were three places that the types of retailers could be placed, they were in town, Out of town and Local. After the location came the classification of the retailers, that involved researching how much their turnover was, their pricing policy, their type of retailer or whether they were a small business or micro business or a large business. After finding out all this stuff I had to make a brand map of my own. One thing that needed to be done daily was the news of the days, this helped me to stay up with the latest news in the retail business. Overall with the fashion business and retail I found very easy seeing as all the information could be found on the internet and through using something called Keynote. Time management could have been better seeing as I had left my news of the day till later.
For my Critical contextual studies, I had to make a sketch book ranging from 1900 to 2016 putting all the information’s from those decades in. for Joomag I had to create a short video talking about three eras stood out the most to me, so I picked the 20’s, 40’s and the 80’s, these were the most influential because the most changed happen for women in though days. Critics contextual studies was very laid back and easy going seeing as I had all the information to put in and it was more of my opinion concerning these decades. The only thing that was a struggle was filming that video I didn’t know what style to film It in, so I ended up filming like a tutorial with Sophia.
