Sock Owl,lion, cat and rose Have you ever wondered what to do with all those odd socks? Instead of throwing them, away turn them into something new. What you need; a sock, sewing thread and needle, stuffing, oddments of felt and oddments of wool. How to make the owl: First you will need to cut the sock. Cut the heel from the sock as in the picture; do not throw the heel away as it is used to make the base and wings. The toe section is your owl. Stuff this part, then using the heel part as a template to cut out another piece for the wings from the top section of the sock. Sew the heel onto the bottom to form a base. Then the other heel you have just cut, cut in half to form the wings. Sew to the side of your owl. Cut eyes, beak and feet from felt and attach to your owl. Finally pull down a section at the top of the owl and catch at the center this will make a v shape on the owls head and then catch at the sides of this to make the ears. If you are giving as a valentine gift you can add a felt heart to the belly.
