How to get involved in research via the Evict Radon National Study
Our all-cause lung cancer risk assessment trial will take place over five years starting in 2024 . Participants will be selected from a variety of groups , including those enrolled in The Evict Radon National Study , individuals being assessed within the provincial lung cancer screening programs of British Columbia , Alberta and Nova Scotia , as well as selected members of the Canadian Partnership of Tomorrow ’ s Health ( CanPATH ) longitudinal health studies .
For Canadian adults wanting to become a citizen scientist and be considered for invitation into the lung cancer screening trial , you can enroll in the Evict Radon National Study for radon testing . Radon tests within this study are enhanced by meticulous controls ( including blanks , duplicates , and spiked positives ) to establish a ' gold standard ' for radon readings . To participate in the Evict Radon National Study , follow these steps :
Visit the National Study website : Access our website to learn more about the Evict Radon National Study and our objectives . All our work is reviewed and approved by independent Research Ethics Boards .
Registration : Review our consent material and enroll in the study through the online registration process . Provide the necessary information and purchase an at-cost radon test kit to join the community of individuals dedicated to advancing radon research .
Receive and Deploy Your Test Kit : You will receive a radon test kit delivered to your mailbox via Canada Post . When you open the kit , register the start date , and place the radon test in your home for 90 + days for reliable results .
Contribute Your Data : Follow the instructions carefully to ensure reliable results . At the end of 90 + days , register the end date online ( very important !) and return the test kit as directed . Within 4-6 weeks , you will receive your results via email .
Those who have completed and submitted their Evict Radon National Study tests are then part of the population who will be considered ( if they choose ) for additional research opportunities such as the “ radon-in-toenail ” analysis , arsenic studies , and air pollution work .
