CR3 News Magazine 2023 VOL 4: SEPT -- RADON CHILDREN and SCHOOLS | Page 66

We welcome our newest Premier Youth Ambassadors for Radon Reduction (PYA) 2023 members. Industry leaders, health care, education and nonprofits are encouraged to stand with PYA students and program leaders to make the future of radon awareness and opportunities a reality for all young people.

Mia Ray graduated from Harrisburg University of Science and Technology in Biology. Her passion for science comes from witnessing her auntโ€™s battle with Multiple Myeloma. This was the start of her passion for cancer research, specifically silent causes of the disease. The PYA opportunity allowed for her to research radon and its association with lung cancer. This invigorated her passion for radon awareness, especially in disenfranchised communities. After she graduates, she plans to pursue her passion for community work in the form of research that can be used to help promote radon awareness in poor and disenfranchised communities!
