Sutton Mason 2018
Sutton Mason graduated from CPA in 2018 knowing a deep passion for the sport of volleyball and the science of athletic training . Sutton completed her competitive volleyball career at Campbellsville University in 2021 , earned a Master ’ s degree in Athletic Training from the University of Iowa in 2024 , and is now an Athletic Trainer at Belmont University for the women ’ s volleyball program and the women ’ s tennis program . During her college career , Sutton became very interested in healthcare and specifically the health and well-being of athletes . At the University of Iowa , she worked with the women ’ s basketball team , gaining first-class experience from some of the country ’ s best female athletes and trainers .
Sutton also hopes to gain certification as a strength and conditioning coach to provide an enhanced rehab experience for patients . Her calling into athletic training is inspiring , and she leads with her faith and conviction : “ I love athletic training because there is always something new to learn and so many people to collaborate with . My prayer for CPA students and graduates is that they keep Christ at the forefront , always . In this world when we first step out , it can be difficult to know our ‘ purpose ’. There is only one truth , and one God who has prepared the path on which you are about to step . Keep your eyes on Jesus first .”
Sutton shares her favorite verse , one that teacher John Patton wrote in her Bible which she received upon graduation in 2018 , still the Bible she uses today : “ I think it encompasses perfectly what our goal should be as young Christians taking our first steps into the world and into our careers together . The verse is Philippians 3:13-14 which says ‘ Brothers , I do not consider that I have made it my own . But one thing I do : forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead . Press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus .’”
