What is COVID-19?

A Coronavirus discovered in 2019

• Coronaviruses are a family of viruses that include the common cold as

well as SARS/MERS

• Spreads through respiratory droplets from an infected person

How long can it survive on surfaces?

• Hours to days depending on the type of surface material

• CDC recommends daily disinfection

Why is it so contagious?

• It is Novel meaning new as in not previously identified—so no one has

any immunity to it yet

Can kids get it?

• Yes but they seem to have milder cases than adults, we aren’t sure why

How can I protect my family?

Stay home - practice social distancing stay at least 6 feet away from

others

• Avoid close contact with people who are sick

• Avoid touching your face, eyes, nose, mouth

• Cover your cough/sneeze with a tissue—then throw in the trash

• Launder washable toys with warmest water possible

Can I wash my husband/wife’s scrubs with the family’s clothes?

• Yes, use warm or hot water

• If your spouse can put the scrubs into a drawstring bag, empty the

scrubs into the washer and then drop in the drawstring bag to wash as

well.
