Four ways to stretch your time for more fulfilling days:
1
Values-Based Living and The Power of
No!
I am naturally more of a ‘doer’ than a
‘planner’, my spontaneous nature and
propensity to be multi-passionate means
that I often overcommit, saying yes to every
opportunity that comes my way. I am
learning to be clearer about my values and
to say no to any commitments that take me
away from living a values-based life.
3
What’s going to work? Teamwork!
I am more a spur-of-the-moment type of
person but flying by the seat of your pants
when you are trying to be everything to
everyone, can leave you feeling
overwhelmed. As a mompreneur,
preparation and routine is critical. This
applies not only to you, but to your entire
household. Having a set morning routine,
preparing school lunches the night before,
each member of the family having set
chores and responsibilities, etc. makes a
huge difference to your time.
2
Set Goals and Develop Action
Plans
Once you are clear on your values,
visualise what you want to achieve
within your personal life and your
business. Translate this vision into
quarterly goals and before the start
of each quarter, create a list of
deliverables for each month for that
quarter for each of your goals. This
will help you maintain focus. When a
new opportunity presents itself,
weigh it up against your long-term
vision and values and decide if you
are willing to make any trade-offs
within your existing goals and plans.
4
Schedule your time purposefully
It is important to be purposeful
about scheduling time for your
business, spending time with your
family and friends, or for self-care
activities. By not doing this in the
past, I often found myself occupying
my time with more ‘urgent’ activities
of day-to-day life. Year on year, I
would find myself lamenting on how
quickly the year passed by and I did
not feel like I had achieved anything.
Many mothers feel guilty for not pursuing their personal goals, often putting the
needs of their loved ones above their own. I hope the four tips to stretch your time
and use it wisely will help more moms to invest in their own personal growth .
