the finalists
With a high increase in production the Tor Coatings site in Chester-le-Street
has consequently seen an improvement in energy use. Solvents purchased saw
a significant reduction which also resulted in reduced emissions. Recycling was
significantly improved in conjunction with waste to landfill which also decreased. •

Why they won
The Coatings Care Progress Award is presented to the company that has made the most significant year on year improvement
in its performance on health, safety and environmental criteria. External judges make their recommendations based on the
Coatings Care Indicators of Performance and BCF accident and incident surveys. Tor Coatings saw some major improvements 20
2017 including energy use and emissions. Their recycling rates were also significantly improved which resulted in decreasing rates
of waste to landfill.
