Winner: BYK-Gardner Q.C. Instruments
True Digital Masters Congratulations to
the finalists
BYK-Gardner have developed industry standard instruments for accuracy, repeatability
and inter-instrument agreement in aspects including colour, sparkle, orange peel,
gloss, clarity, haze and cloudiness, and which have enabled the deployment of true
digital standards throughout the supply chain. This has enabled full digital self-approval
at every stage of a product life cycle, from initial product development, through
batch manufacture, tier 1 components, harmony of finally assembled items and their
replacement or repair. •

Digital Masters
IST METZ: The IST METZ “Hot
Swap” Drying System
Lonza: Sustainable In-can Preservation
The new instruments allow for digital approval at each stage of a product life cycle,
building in quality and minimising lead times, which in turn can reduce stock holding
of both raw materials and finished goods improving working capital and cash flow. By
achieving the right result the first time, businesses can focus on other value-added
activities, instead of trying to repair the issues created, so this doubles the savings that
can be achieved.
What the judges said
“The product developed by BYK-Gardner will surely have an enormous impact on the extremely demanding automotive
industry by speeding up product introduction, reducing wasted materials and time delays for paint manufacturers, component
manufacturers and car manufacturers. The success of their innovation is clearly widespread given the international uptake of their
equipment and colour matching software solutions.”
