ABOUT CRAFTER + MOGFORD
The beginnings of the firm can be traced back to the early 1960’s when golf professional Brian Crafter began an involvement in golf
course design, often in conjunction with his brother Murray. Through the 1960’s and 1970’s Brian was active in course design with
a number of new courses and course reconstructions to his credit. In 1980 Neil joined his father after graduating as an Architect
from the University of Adelaide, and Crafter Golfing Services was formed. In this time a number of new courses were designed by
the firm in Adelaide and Perth with the bulk of work comprising reconstruction of existing courses throughout South Australia and in
Western Australia.
In 1992 Golf Strategies was formed and in 2002 an office was opened in Melbourne, headed up by Paul Mogford, to service the
growing work-load in the eastern states of Australia. Our company’s original focus was on the design of new golf courses in Asia,
and we now have a number of courses completed and open for play in Malaysia and China, with further projects under active
design in Malaysia, China, Vietnam and India. In addition, Crafter + Mogford Golf Strategies has a strong portfolio of completed and
current projects within Australia including new courses and Master Planning to guide the reconstruction of existing courses.
