ADVMET Advanced Metal Fabrication 1 credit (1 block per semester) Grades 10 - 12 This course deals with the metal fabrication industry. Through practical lab experience, students will develop skills necessary to design, layout, fix-up and assemble metal products. Advanced techniques for machining, joining, preparing, and finishing metal will be a large part of the focus. Prerequisite: Metal Process MECHAN Mechanics 1 credit year long Grades 10 - 12 This is a basic course designed to familiarize students with advanced theoretical as well as practical aspects of internal combustion. Sections on electricity, hydraulics and mechanical related areas will be covered. Student experiences will be enhanced through the use of hands on projects and activities. Prerequisite: Exploring Tech WOODPR Wood Processing ½ credit semester Grades 10 - 12 This course will develop the student's abilities, skills and appreciation for working with wood. Advanced techniques in the art of cabinetry with the use of power machines will be covered. Problem solving activities, hands on projects and lab related activities would be emphasized. Prerequisite: Exploring Tech PLAST Plastic Process ½ credit semester Grades 10 - 12 This will be an introductory course in plastics, which will explore the various areas of the plastics industry. The process of molding, casting, fabricating, machining, decorating, and finishing will be covered. This course will cover the importance of plastic and its uses. Hands on projects and lab activities will highlight this course. Prerequisite: Exploring Tech CONSTR Intro To Building Construction ½ credit semester Grades 10 - 12 This is a hands on course designed to have students learn the principles, practices and techniques involved in utilizing a wide variety of carpentry tools required to build a structure through a variety activities. This course is designed to prepare students for building construction (vocational) by providing the student with a working understanding of the key elements associated with planning, designing, and building any structure.
