EARLIT Early American Literature ½ credit semester Elective This course will deal with selections from colonial times to the 1930's. Emphasis will be on literary movements as they reflect and record the beginning and development of the American society. Prerequisite: English I/II and Data Percentiles CONLIT Contemporary American Lit. ½ credit semester Elective This is a study of novels, essays and poetry from 1930 to the present. Students will read at least six important interesting novels. Prerequisite: English I/II and Data Percentiles DRAMA Drama (Literary Genres:) ½ credit semester Elective This is a study of theatre, methods, structures, and techniques. Students will participate in a range of activities from practicing improvisation, dialogues, and monologues to group acting scenes. Students will also read several notable plays throughout history ranging from authors such as Shakespeare to contemporary authors. Prerequisite: English I/II and Data Percentiles CREWRT Creative Writing ½ credit semester Elective This course will emphasize the creative aspects of writing. Students will write a variety of pieces ranging from poetry to short stories to plays. Students will learn how to master descriptive writing and how to develop characters and plot lines. Students will also read samples of exceptional writing techniques to learn what makes a writer successful. This course is for someone who is creative and loves to read and write. Prerequisite: English I/II and Data Percentiles PROCOM Professional Communications ½ credit semester Elective This course is designed to provide opportunities for students to understand and develop effective interpersonal communication skills for the 21st Century. Professional Communications blends written, oral, and graphic communication in a career-based, business environment. Students will prepare, present, and evaluate a variety of multi-media presentations that are appropriate for the professional setting. Prerequisite: English I/II and Data Percentiles 28
