3) Any student receiving failing (F) grades will be ineligible for a period equal to at least one fourth
(1/4) of the regularly scheduled season. Such ineligibility shall also be for at least the minimum
total contests required by the WIAA in a given sport. An athlete must be designated at a
participation level (varsity, JV, freshman) to serve all penalties.
a) At the completion of the suspension period, an athlete may become eligible if a
passing grade exists in all classes and is maintained.
b) Prior to completion of the suspension period, an ineligible athlete must turn in to the
athletic director an eligibility card which will include the names of all classes currently
enrolled in along with current grades and signatures of the teacher before he/she can
become eligible to participate. The eligibility card must continue to be turned in to the
athletic director at two-week intervals until the end of the grading period.
c) The ineligible may practice only if he/she attends a designated after-school study hall
prior to each school day practice.
H. Class Rank Policy
When computing GPA, a grade of A+/A = 4 pts., A- = 3.67, B+ = 3.3, B = 3, B- = 2.67, C+ = 2.3,
C = 2.0, C- = 1.67, D+ = 1.3, D = 1.0, D- = .67, F = 0 pts. The use of pluses and minuses with
grades will be computed into the GPA.
A student that transfers into Johnson Creek High School shall have their grades transfer on an A
through F grade scale. GPAs that are based on other scales shall be transferred to our scale by
the Counselor Counselor, high school principal, and district administrator.
The GPA shall be based on all classes. Any Pass/Fail grade will not be averaged into the overall
GPA.
Class rank is determined by the cumulative GPA where the sum of grade points earned is
divided by the total number of credits taken.
Youth Options Calculation:
Class rank shall be computed using the combined grade and credit equivalent from Johnson
Creek High School and the postsecondary institution. High school credit will be awarded for any
postsecondary course approved by the Board of Education. The grade received by the student
will be calculated into the student’s GPA and reflected on their high school transcript. A
postsecondary three-credit course will be awarded .75 high school credit. A postsecondary
two-credit course will be awarded .50 high school credit. A postsecondary one-credit course will
be awarded .25 high school credit. Any credit to be awarded is based on successful course
completion or receiving a passing grade.
