COURSE: Music S3 – The Journey to National 4 Introductory Statement
Continuing a Broad General Education, the course allows learners to develop practical skills in Performing and Composing, while developing their Understanding of Music styles and concepts. It can meet the needs of a wide variety of learners with a range of musical interests and preferences.
Aims & Objectives The course will provide a broad practical experience of performing and creating music, and to develop related knowledge and understanding of music.
Activities allow learners to work independently or with others.
Activities help learners to plan and organize, to make decisions and to take responsibility for their own learning.
Course Content
The course is based on practical musical activities and provides scope for personalisation and choice.
The Course consists of three Mandatory units and an Added Value unit.
Through an integrated approach learners have the opportunity to:
Create music by exploring a range of basic compositional techniques Develop skills in musical analysis and to discriminate between a range of musical styles Develop their musical literacy and numeracy through an understanding of a range of music concepts Perform a variety of music on their chosen instrument( s) Have the opportunity to acquire skills in the use of music technology Reflect on, and evaluate their own work and that of others
Skills Developed Skills development focus mainly on Performing, Composing, Understanding Music and Music Technology.
