XC Team Burns up Home Course at the Cougar Invite

There was a great turn out at the Cougar Cross-Country Invite with a total of 10 teams competing. Lacey Person, running the first race of the meet, competed well and finished strong running (23:27) for the Varsity Girls' race. Kray Person made a huge improvement from last year's meet knocking a minute off of his time, he ran (18:42) and placed 2nd. Washake Vaughn made big improvements as well crossing the line 30 seconds sooner from a year ago (20:58). Jesse Williams ran a time of (25:39). Keith Hoffman, a 7th grader, completed his race (23:51). Thomas Heth, who had been dealing with injuries all season managed to run a time of (27:01).

"It was a good home meet, and we all did alright. It helped that we knew the course," stated Kray Person.

Cougars Kill the Hill at SESD Meet

The Cross-Country team travels to Bon Homme on October 5 for the SESD Meet.

"It was a nice day, and the whole team did well. Lacey even got a new personal record at this meet," commented Jesse Williams.

Young Runners Give it Their All

The Region Meet took place in Freeman on October 14. Lacey Person ran a time of (27:57) and qualified for the state meet. The boys ran next with Kray Person crossing the line first for the team. Kray ran (18:30) placing fifth and qualifying for state alongside his sister. Washake Vaughn ended his race strong running (20:15) placing 22nd, but fell short two places to qualify. Jesse Williams ran (22:42). Thomas Heth finished his race in (23:57) which was his personal record.
