Cottonwood District Welcomes New Horticulture Program Assistant

The Cottonwood Extension District is excited to announce the hiring of Miranda Huston as our new Horticulture Program Assistant. Miranda began her role on September 22 and will be working closely with District staff, volunteers, and community members to support horticulture education and outreach.

Miranda is a graduate of Kansas State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture Production in January 2021. During her time at K-State, she gained hands-on experience in horticultural care, propagation, irrigation, landscape design, greenhouse management, production, and floriculture.

She brings a wide range of work experience to her new role. Most recently, Miranda served as Manager at Riedel’s Garden Center in Hays, where she supervised daily operations, trained employees, and provided expert customer service. She has also worked at Suburban Lawn and Garden in Overland Park and The Family Tree Nursery, where she developed strong knowledge in plant care and sales. In addition, Miranda expanded her skills internationally through an internship at Château Saint Hilaire in Queyrac, France, where she participated in vineyard maintenance and event marketing.

Miranda’s diverse background, customer service experience, and passion for horticulture make her a valuable addition to the Cottonwood District team. We look forward to the energy and expertise she will bring to supporting horticulture programs in Barton and Ellis Counties.

Please join us in welcoming Miranda Huston to the Cottonwood District!
