May 2022
Greetings from the Director:
By the time this newsletter is posted, I will have returned from a vacation that included some fun in the sun with an occasional Zoom meeting to keep me connected to what was going on at work. A trip to Florida was just what I needed to get re-charged and ready for a busy summer. I know, the calendar doesn’t have summer starting until June 21st, but in the world of Extension, there is much to be done, as we prepare for summer learning opportunities including the Barton and Ellis County Fairs. This year, our Fairs have a short space between them, which is nice. The Barton County Fair is set for July 6th through the 10th and the Ellis County Fair dates are July 16th through the 23rd.
Last month I shared the timeline for filling our vacant positions in the Cottonwood Extension District. I have good news to share, as our board has set June 28th as the interview date for both the 4-H and Youth Development and Family Community Wellness positions. The interview date for the District Horticulture position has also been moved up to August 9th. It will be exciting to have our new team members on board before long.
Take a few minutes to see what we have scheduled in the upcoming month in the Cottonwood Extension District. Let us know how we can serve your needs.
Donna Krug, District Director
We invite everyone to stop by and see the "first blooms" of the year in the WaterSmart Perennial Demo Garden on the south side of the Cottonwood District-Hays office.
Master Gardeners are working hard to update and refresh the garden. Brochures that explain the different plants are in the display box and we encourage the public to check them out!
