DISPLAY OF FLAGS 2.3
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Any homeowner may display one (1) portable, removable Flag of the United States or
official flag of the State of Florida, and a second portable official flag in a respectful
manner, not larger than 4 ½ feet by 6 feet in size, which represent; the United States
Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard, or a POW-MIA flag. All
flags must be displayed in a respectful manner. Comply with applicable provisions of the
United States Code, Title 4, and Chapter one, with respect to displaying the Flag of the
United States: Website; http://uscode.gov
2. Displaying flags by hanging vertically from a home wall surface or gutter or behind a
window is not allowed.
3. Should the homeowner elect to utilize flagpole holder(s) attached to the home, then other
decorative seasonal or holiday flags, or banners may be displayed on that pole in lieu of
the flags noted in paragraph # 1 above.
4. Small flags such as “Welcome” flags attached to a metal rod and inserted in the mulch
area are a lawn ornament.
5. Flags attached to the mailbox stand may only be American flags and displayed only within
several days of national holidays.
6. The United States flag may be displayed 24 hours a day if properly illuminated during the
hours of darkness according to accepted US Flag etiquette. The United States flag may
also be illuminated from a shielded source in a manner so as not to be an annoyance to
adjacent homeowners and their right to privacy.
a. The homeowner may illuminate the flag by the installation of a solar light in the
mulched bed or on the pole. Ground mounted solar light may not exceed 12 inches in
height above grade.
b. Homeowner may choose one solar light fixture from the following finishes; satin nickel,
antique brass, bronze, and black. Only one finish may be selected, and must match any
other fixture in the landscape.
7. Maintain any and all flags in good condition at all times.
