girls selected for netball hub squad

19

LA hub is the first step to progressing into Welsh Netball’s Performance Pathway. Mrs Hellerman gave myself Elinor Davies, Donna Carre, Moli Pathmanthan, Chelsea Parker, Louise Foley, Chloe Luff-Evans, Caitlin Smith and Holly Ahmed the opportunity to attend trials.

The first of two trials was at Talybont; all of us successfully got into the second trial which took place at the House of Sport. The 100 girl’s trialling were all really good so it was difficult to stand out. After trialling we nervously awaited for about a week before we got the news. Holly, myself, Chelsea, Chloe, Moli and Caitlin got selected to join the Hub which we were all so excited about. We train once a month at Stanwell School; it usually consists of lots of match play and drills on specific areas of improvement such as practising accurate passing with the crazy catcher.

Cardiff and The Vale LA Hub then competed in a tournament against other Hubs around Wales. The standard of netball there was amazing so we knew we would have a challenging day ahead. Holly, Chelsea, Moli and I played for C&V Team 1 whilst Caitlin and Chloe played for Team 2. Also present were Welsh Netball talent spotters who selected the top 20 players of the tournament- I was thrilled to be one of them! We all played the best that we could, and got into the final to play Blaenau Gwent. The score was very close and it proved to be a really tough match. However our hard work payed off- C&V Team 1 won the tournament and Team 2 came 3rd!
