The Year 8 rugby team have enjoyed a thoroughly successful season of results, playing an extremely high standard throughout. Our boys had many comfortable victories over the majority of the games played, including their stunning 60-5 win over Radyr and a 50-25 victory over Whitchurch, in which they played especially well together, using every player for different aspects of the game to their advantage.
The Year 8’s came close to a victory over Glantaf on their two fixture meetings, though were narrowly beaten by four points at the beginning of the season, and just lost out on a place in the Cardiff Schools Cup Final at the end of the season in which they suffered a slim 19-39 defeat, though full credit to the team for reaching the semi-finals- a great achievement!
A special shout out to Jakob Clucas who as Captain of the team lead the boys out with confidence and got the best out of every player. Each and every player brought something unique and positive to the team throughout the season and were all very valued through their individual roles in a great team performance overall.
With the Welsh Schools Championships just around the corner in Year 9, we wish the lads the best of luck and hope for another great performance next year. Well done Corpus!

Year 8 Rugby Round Up
This season has been full of highs and lows for the team, but we must think of the positives. Following our success of last season where we won the league, we were looking to obtain at least one piece of silverware. We begun the season strong, we won a number of games, including a 56-7 win over Llanishen, to secure our place in the Welsh cup. So we set our sights on the Cardiff and Welsh cup. We began our Cardiff Cup campaign strongly- powering our way to the quarter finals. Although, the real prize was the Welsh cup, we played Barry Boys and breezed past them with a 50+ points win. Then it was Brecon Boys, a much tougher game, with boys from Year 10 and 11 showing why we were there. Hope started to build with a 17-7 with in the last 32, propelling us to the last 16. Then we faced a period of awful weather, taking almost 2 months of rugby away from us. In this time we suffered multiple injuries and 2 boys being called up to the Welsh squad. So when it came to our Cardiff Cup quarter final we had a depleted team, losing 9 of our starting XV. The boys put in a massive performance but the injuries took their toll. A big thanks to the Year 10 boys who stood up for us in that game. But it was to no avail as we went down 12-7 in the quarter final. A kick in the teeth was we learned that, if we had won the game, we would have faced Plasmawr , who aren't the best. But that was in the past and we had a Welsh Cup quarter final to play. We drew home against a very strong side, St. Gennerdd. They were too strong for our side and won with a resounding 32-0 win. Although we didn't get the silverware we craved, it was still a very successful season for Corpus and wish the best for all the boys in the team wherever they go.
Big congratulations to Rhys Carré and Hugo Souto for getting into the welsh squad!
