Year 7 champions!
Both A and B teams have played brilliantly winning every game played. Our team has been very enthusiastic and played with a positive attitude. We have developed as a team, been very supportive of each other and learnt about each other’s strengths on court.
On the 4th April the Year 7 'A' team attended the County Fnals. We successfully won against Whitchurch with a score of 9-2 and then played Cowbridge and won 10-2. Stanwell was our last game- it was tough but we came through beating them 9-7! The girls played fantastically giving it their all. At the end of the tournament there was a little presentation where we collected our medals and claimed the title of COUNTY CHAMPIONS 2014.
Players were (r to l in photo): Caitlin Smith (C), Chloe Aston-Brooks, Ellie Andrews, Laura Glossop, Lucy Owen, Montanna Robertson, Chloe Luff-Evans, Sofia Vella and Julia Topham

Mrs Tomos
This year we managed to reach the Ann Smart Finals which were held in Deeside, North Wales. Although the weekend’s main focus was netball, the whole experience was memorable. After the gruelling six hour journey, we finally reached the hotel and enjoyed a delicious meal in the company of our team mates and coaches in preparation for the big day! An early night was on the cards and we settled down for a good night sleep.
Bright and early the next morning, we ate, packed and departed the hotel and headed for the venue; Deeside Leisure Centre. Once arriving, we performed a series of warm ups and eyed up our competition - it was going to be tough!
Our first game against Brynteg we won 10-6 however being our first match we did not play our best and needed to get our head in the game.
After a short trip to ASDA to get supplies, we prepared for our next game against Ysgol Duffryn Amman who seemed unpredictable and possibly the underdogs of the tournament. However luck was not on their side and we smashed them 11-1 in the 14 minute ( 7 minutes a half) game.
After a well-deserved win, we unfortunately lost the next match against Bishoptston 14-8. We were gutted- however we knew we had more in our tanks. To open up the tournament, we had to beat the strongest opponent… Hawarden. We won the next game against Haberdashers 12-8 and following that we beat Gwernfyd High School 14-9.
It then came to our biggest match yet against.. Hawarden. The game was tense and very close throughout. We were goal for goal and then beating them. They brought it back after half time and again we were goal for goal. It was their centre.. they scored.. 9-8 to them. Our centre, time was running out, the ball was down the court in our end and the GK caused a penalty to us in the circle. Time had gone. It was all down to this last goal. The shot was from far out, people were screaming and the pressure was too much. Unfortunately, we were unable to alter the score and we narrowly lost by 1 goal. We knew we tried our hardest and fought on winning our last game 15-5.
Despite this we were all in high spirits and finished 3rd in Wales. Overall everyone had a great time and enjoyed the experience.
