Advanced Ski Report

Being a more experienced skier I was really looking forward to the skiing. We were first introduced to our ski instructor. His name was Paul. He was very kind and fun. He always made sure we did slopes that we were able to do. We first had a warm up run on ‘Stillness’ (the slope). We then made our way up the mountain to the slope ‘Oblivion’. These slopes were quite easy for our group as we were the advanced group. After this we went onto harder slopes. These were black diamond’s such as ‘Lower Sells Choice’, the ‘Chute’, ‘Ciao’, ‘The Boneyard’, ‘Gema’, ‘Upper Sels Choice’ & ‘Utter Abandon’. We also did a double black diamond called ‘True Grit’. This is the second hardest slope. We were all very excited to complete this run. When we finished this run we were all very proud as none of us fell over. We had lunch in the main lodge at the bottom of the mountain every day. The food was very nice and the people were also very friendly. On the last day we did many black runs - not too hard though so we didn’t end up broken on the way home. The trip was a big success. No injuries and everyone had lots of fun.

Ski Slopes Review

We were on a coach to the Snowy Owl Inn and on the way stopped in a mall where many purchases made. Then we resumed our journey to the lovely hotel where we rested the night. Then we awoke in the morning we began to prepare to depart for the slopes. When we got there we collected our skis, ski boots and helmets (I brought my own). Then we began skiing upon the slopes. I was placed in group C (an intermediate group) so at first we learnt the basic braking skills then we learnt how to ski down a hill whilst turning without using a breaking wedge (Pizza!). Then we stopped for lunch. The ski sessions lasted for at least 3 and a half hours per day. The skiing was a load of laughs with loads of falling over and crashing as well as bombing down the slopes. Then we started going up much harder slopes like the Revelation and Leroy’s Loop. Near the end of our trip we started going up an even harder slope that was called Valley Run – for this run we had to go up a 4-seater chair lift. On the Revelation run we had a 2-seater chair lift. On the second-to-last day we were up so high that ‘I could see my house from here!’ as well as seeing many people go down at amazing speeds and brilliant stunts off people with their snowboards. It was all great fun!
