THE GAME!

It was a wet and windy Monday afternoon. Corpus

Christi High School VS Bro Edern High School, both

teams were hungry for the win, but it just didn’t seem

like Corpus’ day. The game was very even for the first

10 minutes, but then with a blink of an eye, Bro Edern had a lucky break and scored with a wonderful long range shot; no keeper was saving that! After this a few heads dropped but Corpus’ captain, Zach Stephens, tried to keep the spirit alive. It came to half time with the score remaining at 1-0. Despite the fact that corpus hadn’t scored they had played some excellent football and dominated possession but lacked a finishing touch.

After an encouraging half time team talk from the Gaffers Mr Harris and Mr Letman, Corpus Christi set out on a mission to win the match! Unfortunately Bro Edern got an early free kick a couple of yards in front of the half way line which allowed their midfielder to cross the ball in. Corpus just couldn’t clear it! It went through everyone and until it got to their winger, who was about 6 yards out. He wasn’t going to miss from there! GOAL! They all shouted, and then it was 2-0! Some of Corpus’ team thought that he was offside, but when the ref made his decision, he wasn’t going back on it!

Seconds later, they had a free kick again, around about the same spot were the goal came from. Another cross came in but Will Gelsomini scrambled a clearance at price of a corner. When they delivered the corner, trouble came…again! They crossed it in and it fell to their winger again. To put the icing on the cake, he made it 3-0! By now, all of Corpus’ heads had dropped! We took kick off and after a few minutes of football, a ball was chipped over the top by Michael O’Hanlon….. and what a ball it was! Straight to the feet of the captain (Zach Stephens). Zach gave the ball back to Michael who was fouled. The resulting free kick was at the corner of the oppositions box. Up stepped Stephens to take it, he goes for the bending shot and it just whips past the post. Shortly after that the final whistles screeched to end the game at 3-0.
